Primary Schools in Varanasi Adopt Play-Way Learning Under NIPUN Bharat Mission
Government primary schools across Varanasi district are undergoing a complete pedagogical transformation. Teachers are implementing activity-based learning models to improve foundational literacy and numeracy among young children.
A quiet educational revolution is underway in the rural and semi-urban primary schools of Varanasi under the aegis of the NIPUN Bharat Mission. Classrooms that once featured monotonous rote learning are now buzzing with colorful educational toys, puzzle blocks, and interactive storytelling sessions designed to make learning intuitive for children aged 3 to 9.
Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Dr. Sanjay Kumar Shukla highlighted that over 1,200 primary schools in blocks like Sevapuri, Arajiline, and Baragaon have been upgraded with smart classrooms and library kits. 'Our primary focus is ensuring that every child achieves grade-appropriate reading and basic arithmetic skills before entering upper primary classes,' Shukla said.
Teachers have undergone rigorous residential training programs at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in Paharia, learning modern pedagogical techniques that blend local folk culture with modern cognitive science. Parents visiting schools during recent open-house sessions expressed immense satisfaction with the visible improvement in student engagement and confidence.
